Read: John 17:20-26
In the High Priestly Prayer recorded in John 17, Jesus prayed for “all who would believe” through the message of His first followers. In that upper room, Jesus saw you, he knew you, he prayed for you!
Jesus prayed that we, His followers, would be one. This is asking for the same union Jesus experienced between himself, Father-God, and the Holy Spirit. The purpose for this prayer is that the world will believe.
Jesus has given us His glory, the glory the Father gave Him. This is so that we (the Body of Christ) may be one. This is so that we may experience perfect union. Out of that union, we may know perfect love; the same love Jesus had with the father.
Jesus confirmed the results of His work in us; the Father’s love for Jesus will be in us. Jesus’ love abides in us, and we remain in Him. We are in union with Christ, and the world may believe because of our unity with the Trinity and with each other.
