Message: “The Days and Years of Our Lives (Psalm 90)” from David Carey Dixon

A message from the series "Sunday Service." Today we want to delve into perhaps the oldest psalm in the Psalter, written by Moses, whose personal pilgrimage we will review as part of our background study of this psalm. Then we will follow his thoughts as he meditated on the fleetingness of human life and the intensity of God’s indignation toward His rebellious creatures, but we’ll also observe how Moses still dared to plead for God’s tender mercies as the true source of hope and joy for His people. We will seek to pray along with Moses as the Holy Spirit carried him through the whole gamut of a well-rounded conversation with God: from praise and confession to repentance, supplication and intercession.

Great Expectations

Palm Sunday is the day where you hear the story of Jesus triumphantly entering Jerusalem. People are shouting “Hosanna!” and “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” There is a massive celebration, but I want to challenge you to look at that triumphant entry from a different perspective. In a matter of days, everything would change. Jesus would be arrested, beaten, and crucified.Like the Apostles, how do we respond when we are taken from a point of triumph to a point of desperation? At times we feel God calling us in a certain direction but somewhere along the way our expectations of what God is going to do and what God does begin to look very different. When this happens, how do we respond?
