Message: “Something to Hold Onto (1 Peter 1:1-9)” from Dr. Tom Riley

A message from the series "Sunday Service." Have you ever been overwhelmed by the challenges and changes around you? The Apostle Peter and many in the early church knew that feeling. They were not only flooded by change, but many faced the challenge of deadly persecution. In 1 Peter 1:1-9, Peter reminded them (and us!) of the powerful source of the hope we have in Jesus. It is a living hope based on a past event, looking forward to a future event, and with much to offer even in the present moment.

Called to Community

One of the essential characteristics of the church is that of being a “Community of One Anothers.” Throughout scripture we find this phrase “one another” when describing the people of God. “This is My commandment, that you love one another.” “Be devoted to one another.” “Bear one another’s burdens.” “Be hospitable to one another.” “Serve one another.” “Build up one another.” “Comfort one another.” “Encourage one another.” “Seek after that which is good for one another.” “Stimulate one another to love and good deeds.” This is just a sample, there are many more verses that call us to care for “one another.”
