Advent #1: Hope
“…and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:2b ESV
Christmas is the season of Hope. Children hope for the presents they desire. Adults hope for a break from the pressure of busyness. The world hopes for peace.
Jesus is the hope everyone needs! The Word teaches us that because we have been made right with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, we stand by faith. We rejoice in the hope of the Glory of God. Just as the Season of Advent helps us renew our expectation in the coming of the Christ Child, we place our hope in the Gifts of Christ.
Jesus has gifted us with Healing. We have a restored relationship with God through faith in Jesus. We have the gift of Opportunity, the confident expectation and trust that God is making everything new. We are given the gift of perseverance. We know that even suffering produces endurance, character, and hope. Finally, we are gifted Eternal Life. At the right time, God gave us reconciliation, restoration, recovery, redemption, and rest. Jesus is our hope!
