A Proclamation Without Words (Romans 6:1-11)
As we reflect together on the meaning of the ordinance of Baptism, every listener should be moved by its message, either challenged or encouraged. The first lesson we should grasp is that Baptism is not optional, as it is a direct command from the Lord to all His disciples. We must then understand that Baptism is an outward physical act that speaks, in quite a dramatic style, of an inward reality: a) it is a proclamation of our Faith in Christ Jesus, b) it is an expression of our Identification with Christ Jesus and c) it is a proclamation of our Future with Christ Jesus.
