Pray: Jesus, you are my light, illumine me. May your Living Water burst from within me flooding me with life and hope.

Jesus is the Bread of Life! He is, for us, the nourishment we need. Father God provides for our every need, out of the abundance of love He has for you and me. He takes our meager offerings of ourselves (our 5 loaves and 2 fish) and multiplies the blessing. Are you feeding from the Bread of Life, daily receiving the nourishment you need?

This week we continue our journey of Magnifying Christ. We taste and see that Christ is our Living Water. Just as He said to the woman at the well, “… the water I give…becomes…a fresh, bubbling spring within …, giving … eternal life” (John 4:14). Here, Jesus stood and proclaimed to the crowds, gathered for the Festival of Booths, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!  Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (Jn 7:37-38). Are you thirsty? Are you coming to Jesus to drink? Are rivers of living water flowing from your heart?

Jesus rescued the woman caught in adultery and instructed her “go and sin no more.” He then turned to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (Jn 8:12). Are you “living in the light, as He is in the light” (1 Jn 1:7)?

Finally, after a long and challenging dialogue with the crowds and religious leaders, Jesus retorted, ““I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I am!” (Jn 8:58). In answering the inquiries of the crowd as to Jesus’ origin, father, and identity, He stated His pre-existence, pre-eminence, and primacy. Of course, the crowds and religious leaders wanted to arrest and stone Him for blasphemy, but Jesus’ time had not yet come. So, He slipped away, again.

For us, Jesus is our daily bread! He is our living water from which we drink and experience springs of living water flowing from our heart. Jesus is our light! We no longer walk in darkness, bound by sin and death. We have the light that leads to life eternal.
