Searching for God

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.  John 17:3 (ESV).

TelescopeThere could be various reasons for why you have come to read these words, but if you are someone who is truly searching for God you need to know a few things about knowing God, which many people ignore. One is this: the only way you can come to know God is through Jesus Christ. John 14:6. (“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”). Secondly, the only way you can know Jesus Christ is if God the Father draws you to Him. John 6:44(a). (“No one can come to me (Jesus) unless the Father who sent me draws him.”).

Jesus said these things because God’s Word, (the Bible), teaches that the human heart is so naturally selfish and sinful, and our spirits so alienated from God by our sinfulness, that God Himself must do all the work of salvation for us, from start to finish. (Genesis 6:5, 8:21; Jeremiah 17:9; Matthew 7:11; Mark 10:18; Romans 3:10-12; 8:28-30; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 12:2). While God can and does draw people to Himself through His Son in many ways, including discontentment, suffering, sickness, relationships with Christians or even through unexpected providential event or events in life, primarily, God draws us to Himself through his Word (the Bible) and specifically, by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Regardless of how you have come here today, however, we encourage you to continue on to know God and His Son Jesus Christ.

To this end, we have gathered various resources to help acquaint you with the good news, or gospel, of Jesus Christ and to further encourage you to get to know God through his Word (the Bible). So please look through the resources and continue to pray with us for God to reveal His Son to you. If you need a Bible, or any other help along the way, please contact us at searchingforgod@ibcmadrid.com We will do our best to help you in your journey. Surely, if you will seek God with all of your heart, God will make sure that you find Him.

As Jesus said:

“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
John 6:37-40 (ESV)

May God grant you salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord.
